For those of us who love words of affirmation, a simple gesture like a shout-out for a job well done, or a surprise social media post on their birthday, can allow your employees to feel valued. Because each person on your team may feel differently about this type of public posting, it’s important to ask for permission before sharing.
What are social media shout-outs?
A shout-out on social media usually refers to when one user shouts out another, typically by “tagging” them (inserting their username and a link to their name) in a post or IG story.
These are great for congratulating on accomplishments, work anniversaries, or even birthdays. Here are a few examples to get you started!
“Thank you to our talented team of veterinary technicians! Your continued efforts and dedication inspire everyone in the office! (and you can tag the people in the photo).”
“Happy 5 years to our office manager, Casey! We couldn’t run this practice without you, and appreciate all the organization and warmth that you bring to your role.”
When should you celebrate your team on social?
- Work anniversaries
- Major milestones
- Personal life events (positive ones)
