It is notoriously difficult for black dogs to find homes once they end up in shelters. Thanks to stigmas against them—like assumptions that they’re evil because of their color—black dogs are euthanized at higher rates in crowded shelters. On National Black Dog Day, show some love for your black dog, and consider adopting a black dog if you’re looking for a new pet. They deserve loving homes, just like all other pets.
