It’s time for an end-of-year roundup! Over the past year you may have learned how to read your social media insights & analytics, but what are the big takeaways from your top-performing posts of the year? Click here to learn how to decipher your insights, and implement real change.
Here at iVET360, we know that social media has become a major part of your digital marketing in 2021.
In the age of social media, there are so many points of data, and it can often become overwhelming. When measuring social media analytics, it’s important to understand what data points actually matter, and know what to pay attention to for your year-end summary.
For social media tracking, there are several platforms paid and unpaid platforms for longterm tracking, as well as filters on the IG & FB insights sections. It’s a great idea to go through and see what your top-performing posts were from the past year, and look for any trends or consistent themes that connected especially well with your audience.
The IG insights alone can measure metrics such as followers, reach, and engagement rate. When creating a year-end summary, you are really looking at a general overview of yearly trends.
You may want to highlight:
- Increases in followership
- Achieving goals
- What DIDN’T perform as well as expected
So what can you do with this information? Now it’s time to flesh out a strategy based on the data. Explore the elements or themes that proved especially well-received from your audience. Are there things you can re-create in another way this upcoming year? Is there a context that impacted how posts performed, such as political changes, community events, or press features?
It’s often helpful to provide your team with a breakdown of what the numbers mean, what the trends imply, and how it all plays into your strategy. By including examples of top-performing content, or posts that didn’t do so well, you and your team have a more objective understanding of that years’ efforts.
